Atasca Eye Center

LASIK provides correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK utilizes a micro-keratome to shave a thin layer of the cornea, folding it back, then a laser beam is used to reshape the middle layer of the cornea. The cornea is then folded back onto the eye and allowed to re-seal onto the eye's surface. LASIK offers the promise of faster visual recovery. In fact, some patients have 20/20 vision in 1-2 days. FDA studies are underway to confirm the effectiveness of this latest procedure. We recommend this procedure for those patients requiring very quick visual recovery and those patients with very high correction. LASIK carries a slightly higher risk of significant complications, but is certainly the best procedure for some vision problems. Your doctor should carefully evaluate and advise the best laser vision correction procedure for you, discussing the risks and benefits of both procedures. LASIK is a more technically demanding procedure requiring creation of a flap. Flap complications are uncommon and usually resolve with time or treatment.

Atasca Eye Care performs all pre- and post-operative care. Drs. Kuo and Bui can tell you if LASIK is a good option for you. They will guide you through this life-changing procedure.
